[ENG] I have a fascination for castles. I have visited some in Europe and also here in Asia. As I walk around the rooms, I try to imagine how many people have been there, what they were doing, how they lived, and their entire construction process. History has always been one of my favorite subjects in school. As I began to visit the places I studied in books, this interest increased.

Some time ago I finally got to know the famous Himeji Castle in Hyogo Prefecture. For those who wondering which castle to visit in Japan, this is one of my favorites. In addition, the region offers a wide range of sightseeing and immersion options in Japanese culture.

It is located about 30 minutes by bullet train west of Osaka and Kobe and is considered the epitome of the Japanese feudal castle.

This Japanese National Treasure and World Heritage Site has as its main feature the elegant whitewashed structure. Because of its whiteness and majesty, the Japanese dubbed it “White Heron Castle”.

Completed in the early 17th century, Himeji offers daily guided tours in Japanese and English.

Ao caminhar pelos cômodos, tento imaginar quantas pessoas já passaram por ali, o que faziam, como viviam e todo o processo de construção deles. História sempre foi um dos meus temas favoritos e uma das matérias que mais gostava na escola. Quando comecei a conhecer os lugares que estudava nos livros, esse fascínio aumentou.

Tempos atrás fui finalmente conhecer o famoso Castelo de Himeji, na província de Hyogo. Para quem está na dúvida de qual castelo visitar no Japão, este é um dos meu favoritos. Além disso, a região oferece uma grande variedade de opções de passeios e imersão na cultura japonesa.

Está localizado cerca de 30 minutos de trem-bala a oeste de Osaka e de Kobe, e é considerado o epítome do castelo feudal japonês.
